Position Overview & Responsibilities

This Production Manager is responsible for all manufacturing processes in the plant. Responsible for reporting of all raw materials, finished goods, labor and assigned projects. Must lead, motivate and provide resources and knowledge to assure that products are manufactured in a cost efficient and timely manner while following strict EH&S and quality standards. Must keep all machinery updated and in running condition. Must implement best safety practices and maintain a program of continuous improvement regarding EHS and product quality awareness and compliance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following and other duties may be assigned:
  • Monitor daily production at all production lines in the plant for issues concerning quality, material yields, cost effectiveness and work performance to maximize production efficiency
  • Provide an uncompromising force for safety in all aspects of the plant operations
  • Manage the direct the efforts of the individual Shift Supervisors and Production Leads
  • Understanding and interpreting plant financials to be able to identify any necessary action items
  • Recommend, monitor and implement productivity plans that increase production line/operator efficiencies
  • Handle issues such as training new employees, hiring labor, scheduling vacations and overtime as well as disciplinary action
  • Assist in resolving material/production/scheduling/shipping issues in order to facilitate fulfillment of customer orders
  • Minimize equipment downtime through effective management of production staff and working with maintenance and scheduling
  • Communicates performance expectations in a clear, professional and respectful manner
  • Takes a lead role as agent for positive change, including raising the bar on objectives to attain and sustain 'World Class Manufacturing' performance
  • Provides full support and encouragement to direct reports in achievement of key performance objectives. This includes an accident-free workplace, environmental compliance, defect free production, meeting/exceeding productivity standards and foster employee involvement/engagement in support of continuous improvement activities
  • Supports a culture to enhance customer relationships/satisfaction, encouraging active communication, employee engagement, and talent development
  • Actively supports the key strategy of 'Quality in Everything We Do'. A key element here is the prevention of defective product from being manufactured and, as a worst case, reaching our customers.

Position Requirements

  • Experience in directing and supervising production personnel either through team experience or direct reports.
  • Must have a minimum of 5-7 years supervising production personnel.
  • Facilitating Change, Product and Process Knowledge, Business Acumen, Communications, Work Standards and Quality, Planning and Organizing and Initiating Action.
  • BA/BS degree required or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak English and Spanish effectively to management and employees of organization.
  • Analytical skills as required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, business analysis and strategic planning
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to both office and plant environments. The work environment may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in certain areas.
